One of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies, Love’s Labor’s Lost is set in Navarre where the King and his three lords swear an oath to scholarship, fasting and abstaining completely from the company of women. Meanwhile, the Princess of France has arrived to visit the King. Hosting the Princess and her entourage in a remote camp, the King soon finds himself love struck. Plots to woo the Princess lead to mistaken identities, pranks and broken oaths.
It’s time to get your laugh on when The Second City Touring Company brings “Second City for President” to the Capitol on Saturday, Oct. 27. Come prepared to “bust a gut” as this seasoned and talented troupe, known for grooming such stars as alumni John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, Mike Myers, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, and Tina Fey... just to name a few... brings their comedy revue to the Lakeshore. This revue doles out laughter at the expense of both sides of the aisle as well as comedy that is decidedly timely, happily cutting-edge, and unabashedly hilarious.
Tony-winning musical Avenue Q is the hilarious and heartfelt story of a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York with big dreams and little money. He can only afford to live on Avenue Q but—good news!—his neighbors turn out to be a remarkably funny bunch of characters. Creators Jeff Whitty, Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez created a show where Sesame Street meets Rent! Scandalously funny!
