A panel discussion featuring Lawrence University faculty and members of the community will examine the ongoing crisis in Syria. In addition to short presentations on various aspects of the conflict, the program will include clips from the documentary "Syria Undercover" and a live Skype interview with a Human Rights Watch worker who has documented human rights abuses in Syria. A Q&A with the audience will follow the presentations. Free and open to the public.

Join Seig, America’s last wooden shoe carver, as he hand carves a shoe from a log section in 28 minutes, using only 3 traditional antique tools; side ax, block knife, and a spoon auger. Bob and his apprentice Luke are the only people in America who can do this. Simultaneously, a video of PBS documentary will be show that relates interesting historical information about wooden shoes. Questions and comments will follow with an opportunity to try on wooden shoes. Sieg learned from 12 master carvers in the Netherlands and has carved at events all over America for over 42 years.
