A little red truck pulls into our town with everything it takes to mount a full-scale musical production . . . except the cast. That’s where the children of our community come.

By Saturday, they’ve gained character- the kind that really counts.

The Missoula Children's Theatre provides a week-long residency starring 50-60 of our local students in a full-scale musical. MCT has been touring for more than 30 years. Annually, MCT visits nearly 1,200 communities in all 50 states, 4 Canadian Provinces and overseas. Their mission is the development of lifeskills in children through participation in the performing arts. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through participation in this unique and educational project. This show will be performed in Perry Hall.

HAIRSPRAY delights audiences by sweeping them away to 1960's Baltimore, where the 50's are out -- and change is in the air. Loveable plus-size heroine, Tracy Turnblad, has a passion for dancing, and wins a spot on the local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show." Overnight she finds herself transformed from outsider to teen celebrity. Can a larger-than-life adolescent manage to vanquish the program's reigning princess, integrate the television show, and find true love (singing and dancing all the while, of course!) without mussing her hair?

The Car
By Carol Wright Krause

The Car is about the Banners, a picture perfect postcard of a 1950s American family, with an all-American son, a doting mother and an honest car salesman of a father, who does everything by the book and has just recently, purchased the car—a 1954 Hudson Hornet. But when their son suddenly joins the military, only to return with a Japanese wife the family’s world is suddenly turned upside-down. Things may not be as picture perfect as they seem.

“But through the bumps and potholes, Krause’s script can get surprisingly and satisfyingly dark, and the intensity of the actors on stage make “The Car” an entertaining and engaging ride.” - Jordan Scrivner, RED Magazine

The Smell of the Kill revolves around Nicky, Debra, and Molly who have tolerated one another during once-a-month dinners for years. While their unseen spouses play golf in the dining room, the women exchange confidences for the first time revealing that all three marriages are on the brink of disaster and all three women are facing the challenges of their lives. Nicky’s husband has been indicted for embezzlement, Molly’s husband is stalking her and Debra’s husband is leaving her for another woman. The tables turn when the men mistakenly lock themselves in a basement meat locker. The women are faced with a life-or-death decision – should they leave the men out in the cold – permanently – or let them thaw?

Director Michael Laskowski is looking for three women anywhere between early 30's and late 40's. Also three men who are needed for offstage voices. Auditions will be May 4th and 5th from 6:00-8:00pm at the Neenah Public Library. Auditions will consist of cold readings.

Performances will be September 22-24 at Perfect Presentations in Neenah.
