Originating thousands of years ago, ink painting or sumi-e, as it is called, is one of the oldest art forms. Deceptively simple in appearance, sumi-e can be a refuge of inner-peace and self-enlightenment. Learn to find the essence of you subject, its spiritual quality and then how to put the whole world in a brush stroke.

Karen Kurka Jensen is well recognized locally and nationally. After studying the classical sumi-e techniques for over 10 years, Karen’s art has evolved to become part of a growing new expression of the American sumi-e art form. Grounded by the traditional methods and materials, she has applied new vision and perspective to create a bold unique style and expression.
